Police have launched a murder investigation and are on the hunt for the partner of a pregnant teacher who was found dead in Glasgow.

Officers are searching for David Yates after the body of Marelle Sturrock, 35, was discovered at a property in the city’s Jura Street on Tuesday morning.

On Thursday, Police Scotland confirmed that Ms Sturrock was 29 weeks pregnant.

Detective Superintendent Nicola Kilbane said: “I can confirm that sadly her unborn baby did not survive.”

DS Kilbane added: “Her partner David Yates is wanted in connection with Marelle’s death. At this time we have no information to suggest anyone else has been involved.”

Yates’s white Seat Ateca was discovered at Mugdock Country Park on Tuesday, sparking a major police search.

Police divers have been spotted at the park and parts of the reservoir have been taped off, with officers standing guard.
