Yusuf KISA “RELEASE THE RECORDINGS, STOP LYING!”

Yeni Bakış Gazetesi Editor-in-Chief Yusuf Kısa has strongly condemned Cyprus Vakıflar Administration (Evkaf) Director Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer following Tümer’s statements denying a reported 3-million-dollar investment dispute at Çıkarma Plajı. In response to Yeni Bakış Gazetesi’s front-page story on 1 July 2026 titled “3 Cypriot Businessmen’s Outcry Against Lieutenant General Sebahattin Kılınç Over $3 Million Investment,” Tümer claimed that no such issue existed and that Çıkarma Plajı had been rented to the Security Forces Command (GKK) for the past 30 years. However, Yusuf Kısa, General Publication Director of Yeni Bakış Media Group, reacted sharply to Tümer’s remarks, stating that he had personally met with Tümer and that his claims were false. Kısa’s Statement: “I personally held a one-hour meeting with Vakıflar Director Mustafa Tümer on Friday, 26 June at 10:30. During the meeting, Tümer told me that they were ready to sign with the businessmen, that the Vakıf would receive monthly rent, and that he himself was pleased with the project. He explicitly stated that the person preventing the signing was Lieutenant General Sebahattin Kılınç. I asked him this question three times in succession, and he repeatedly gave the same answer.” Kısa described Tümer’s immediate reversal after the news was published — claiming “no such meeting took place” — as “comical” and accused the Vakıflar Director of lying. “Publish the Camera Recordings!” Reminding that the Vakıf building has surveillance cameras, Kısa issued an open challenge to Tümer: “Vakıfta kameralar mevcut. Let Tümer release the camera recordings between 10:15 and 11:30. Let him not hide behind his finger. Let him also share the 30-year rental contract of the place he claims has been rented. Let the public see what connection it has with a restaurant where 3 million dollars has been spent. Moreover, does lying suit a man who has become a professor? If you said something, you should stand behind it.” “Resign Immediately” Kısa called on Vakıflar President Mustafa Tümer to resign immediately, stating: “Show the recordings to everyone and let it be clear who is lying. You and people like you cannot put a rooted printed media outlet in a position of liar. Show the recordings; if I am lying, I will apologize to the entire public, close the newspaper, and never engage in publishing again. If you are lying — and you are lying — resign from your position immediately and go home.” “A Professor Should First Learn Not to Lie” Kısa continued: “A professor who is also an academic should first learn not to lie. I address Vakıf President Mustafa Tümer: Do not make statements you cannot stand behind. Do not mislead the public. Be transparent — publish the recordings.” The incident has once again brought discussions about transparency in the use of vakıf lands, rentals, and investment processes in the TRNC to the forefront.
